Introduction

Early in 2015 I became interested in collecting old die cast and pressed steel vehicles.  I saw some vehicles that were branded "Londontoy" which were made in Canada.  I really liked the look of these vehicles and wanted to learn more.  I learned the following from the Canadian Museum of History found at the following link:

http://www.historymuseum.ca/canadaplay/introduction/boys-room.php

"Webster Brothers, of London, Ontario, were the manufacturers of the “Londontoy” line of small cast metal vehicles, which included a line of wartime vehicles and play sets. Toys that were already in production in peace-time were given new military paint schemes. Beverage trucks became army trucks towing cannons and delivery trucks became military ambulances.
Small die-cast cars and trucks were made by London toy beginning in the 1940’s. Their cars, pick-up trucks, beverage trucks, and buses came in two sizes and several colors and were offered as part of different sets including a gas station and airport."

These toys are numbered, presumably from #1 up to who knows what.  I am making this blog to catalog the toys and attempt to get a picture of each toy.  I'm also making this blog because I haven't found a centralized location of Londontoy pictures.

  3. Great blog. Keep searching.Canadian toy production history needs to be recorded. I have a few Londontoys, but now concentrate on Reliable Plastic. Lots of production for Canadian companies as tariffs etc made importing expensive. I have a growing collection of Canadian toys on Collectors Weekly under the name Otaco me. If you want to copy a pic to post and describe etc feel free. Richard.

    1. Hi Richard,
Thanks so much for checking out my blog. I checked out your Londontoy pictures on Collectors Weekly. They are really nice! With your permission I would definitely re-post some of your pictures (with a credit to you of course). If you know any other Londontoy collectors, I would love to get in contact with them via Facebook or some other way.
